Your LinkedIn profile should help someone understand what you bring and where you want to go next. If you’re an experienced woman considering a career move, a profile built around old job titles and internal language may not tell that story clearly.
In this episode, I share four practical LinkedIn signals from my recruitment experience: Clarity, Keywords, Signal and Delivery. We look at how to communicate your expertise, the level you’re targeting and the outcomes you deliver.
Open your headline and About section, then try the free LinkedIn Visibility Audit for personalised feedback. Use the feedback to choose what to improve first.
Does your profile explain who you are and what you do beyond your job title or employer? Help a reader understand the value you bring.
Consider the terms recruiters and employers use for relevant roles. Check whether internal jargon or company-specific titles obscure your experience, and use accurate language that reflects your skills.
Look at whether your profile conveys the seniority and scope of the work you want to do next. Your experience should support that direction.
Move beyond a list of tasks to show what you deliver. Make it easier for someone to understand your contribution and the problems you help solve.
These four signals are my practical framework for reviewing a profile. They are not LinkedIn’s published search-ranking formula. The linked audit is based on the P4 framework, which is a separate model.
Read your headline and the opening of your About section. Can someone tell what you deliver, recognise language relevant to the work you want, and understand the level of responsibility you’re ready for? Use the audit feedback to choose a practical improvement.
If you’re finding it hard to explain your contribution, start with the IMPACT framework for positioning your experience. It gives you a way to work on the story your profile needs to communicate.
If you’re unsure which capabilities matter for your next move, listen to the SCAN career framework for reading your market before rewriting your profile around a new direction.
